THE DANCE ZONE SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM

We are excited to announce our Zoom into Summer Camp programs. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic our Summer Camp this year will be held online using Zoom webinar program. Please register your child/children for a program below. Also if you register a second sibling you will receive a 50% discount for your second child. Once registered we will send everyone an email with your Zoom login codes.

Week 1 

Theme: EXPLORING NATURE
Ages: 4-7
Dates: July 7th, 8th and 9th
Time: 9:30 - 11:00
Cost of Camp: $59.99 includes HST, 50% off second sibling

Tuesday July 7th

9:30 - 10:00: Dance (Hip Hop)

10:15 - 11:00: Art Activity

• Parts of a flower
• Draw and label parts of a flower

Wednesday July 8th

9:30 - 10:00: Story time (Book about plants/flowers)

10:00 - 10:30: Dance (jazz)

10:30 - 11:00: Science

• Planting
• Give each student: a pot, soil and seeds
• Talk about helping a plant grow
• Giving it nutrients (i.e. sunlight and water)

Thursday July 9th

9:30 - 10:00: Show and Tell

• Students go on a nature walk the night before
• Find 1 item on their walk relating to plants/flowers/nature
• Show it to the group

10:00 - 10:30: Art Activity

10:30 - 11:00: Dance

Week 2 

Theme: EVERYDAY HEROES
Ages: 8-12
Dates: July 14th , 15th and 16th
Time: 9:30 - 11:00

Tuesday July 14th

9:30 - 10:15: Dance (interactive)

10:15 - 11:00: Art/Media Activity

• Make signs thanking our front line workers
• Create a phrase with students
• Decorate their page
• Take picture (covering faces) with signs and post to Instagram account

Wednesday July 15th

9:30 - 10:15: Dance (hiphop)

10:15 - 11:00: Art/Literacy

• All you need to know about heroes": Learn about everyday heroes, have a discussion etc. Homework will be to select a hero and pick a famous quote of theirs and print this quote out for the activity Wednesday.

Thursday July 16th

9:30 - 10:15: Dance (jazz)

10:15 - 11:00:  Art Activity

• Deliver rocks to students
• Have them paint their rocks
• Use their "message to hero" from night before for saying on their rocks
• Deliver rocks somewhere in their neighbourhood for someone to see

Theme: COLOUR ME A RAINBOW
Ages: 4-7
Dates: July 21st, 22nd and 23rd
Time: 9:30 - 11:00

• The walking rainbow

Wednesday July 22nd

9:30 - 10:00: "Brighten Up Someone's Day"

• give every student a decent sized rock
• materials needed for this: paint and sharpie markers
• students must paint the rock too look like a rainbow
• let rock dry

10:00 - 10:30: Dance (Jazz)

10:30 - 11:00: "Brighten Up Someone's's Day" Continued

• write a personal message to brighten up someone's day
• use a sharpie marker to write a message to someone to help brighten up their day
• give examples of what rocks could say
• once done, students will put their rocks outside on their front lawns for people too see

Thursday July 23rd

9:30 - 10:00: Story time

• Book about colours/rainbows

10:00 - 10:30: Dance

10:30 - 11:00: Art activity

Ages: 8-12
Dates: July 28th, 29th and 30th
Time: 9:30-11:00

10:15-11:00: Art

• Decorate and personalize a chef hat/apron
• Use this when doing the next 2 baking activities
